We pride ourselves on the maintenance of a safe, welcoming practice environment even during the time of COVID-19.
In order to do so we have instituted a number of infection control checks and safeguards to minimise the risk to our patients and staff.
Please inform our reception team/you will be asked if you are feverish, have a new or continuous cough, have lost your sense of taste or smell, or have been identified as a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. These are the most common indicators of a possible COVID-19 infection, although please also tell us if you have symptoms of a 'cold' (runny nose, sore throat, ear ache, headache, muscle or joint ache.)
In order to keep the practice as safe as possible, if you have symptoms which may indicate infection with COVID-19, a telephone review with a doctor will be performed to determine how best to help and manage your condition with the safety of all of our patients and staff in mind.
The Doctor may be able to complete your consultation and provide treatment remotely, and/or recommend you take a COVID-19 PCR test (lateral flow tests are currently believed to have limited accuracy in patients with symptoms) and/or invite you into an appointment at the end of the day. This enables ventilation of the room overnight.
Other infection control measures include temperature checks on arrival, mask wearing by all visitors to and staff of The Hove Practice within the building, regular disinfection and cleansing of high traffic areas in addition to our usual cleaning regime.
Social distancing within the consultation (apart from during examinations!) and ventilation of the rooms are also performed.
Our Private General Practitioners want to help you and our practice procedures are designed with infection control in mind.
If you are considering visiting us for the first time, it is important that you know we are very happy to communicate with your NHS GP and can promptly provide a summary of your consultation as required.
We look forward to welcoming you.

We are amongst the South coast's most well established Private COVID-19 testing centres, having reliably provided this service since testing became available outside the NHS in June 2020. We believe we offer amongst the fastest turn-around for RT-PCR COVID-19 test results in the country.
We are an UKAS accredited centre and are pleased to offer Public Health England evaluated, accredited COVID-19 (Corona virus) laboratory tests. These can be posted to your home across the United Kingdom or collected from the Hove Practice.
These are highly accurate and can be used to determine if you are currently suffering from (RT-PCR swab) or have suffered (either IgG or IgG AND IgM antibody blood tests) COVID-19. We also now offer a suite of antibody tests, including to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which may prove useful in determining the level of an individual's response to COVID-19 vaccination, although its clinical significance is yet to be confirmed.
Our COVID-19 RT-PCR are available to use for Travel and Day 5 "Test to Release" for unvaccinated travellers who have not been in or through any country that is on the travel ban red list in the 10 days before arrival in England. We do not offer Day 2 nor Day 8 testing.
Due to the uncertainties of COVID-19 testing, we can never guarantee results within a time frame, however we strive to offer test results that are performed in time for our morning courier (10.45 am) before midnight the same day. See here for a list of recent result timings.
Please see our dedicated COVID-19 testing page for more information or click here to book online now. Alternatively you can contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org or 01273 733830) to order a test during our opening hours.
We are welcoming patients to the practice for face to face review for non-feverish illnesses and medical reviews/check ups. It is essential that the pandemic does not deter general medical care and we are determined to provide this for you. In order to protect you, vulnerable patients and our staff we ask that you please DO NOT visit the practice without an appointment.
Alternatively, we offer high quality telephone and secure private medicine video consultations which can be booked online here or via telephone (01273 733830). These are suitable for a wide range of general practice ailments and have proved very popular to patients within Brighton, Hove, London and beyond.
Registered patients can request prescriptions via email (email@example.com) or telephone. Once reviewed and approved by one of our doctors, they will be sent directly to the pharmacy of your choosing for collection.
Please remember, if you are short of breath, have chest pain or are struggling due to a deterioration in your health please call 111/999 according to severity or visit here for NHS triaging and further information specifically relating to COVID-19.
