Welcome to The Hove Practice.
Please book your Private GP appointment or, for existing patients, submit your repeat prescription request below.
Please note Pathology (ie. blood tests, swabs etc) and investigations (ie. ECG, Spirometry etc) incur costs in addition to the consultation fee.
Certain prescriptions may require a face to face or telephone GP appointment before they can be issued. This includes any medications we have not prescribed for you previously at The Hove Practice.
The time you book for repeat prescriptions is an approximate time and this request may not be completed until the end of the day depending on your doctor's workload.
Please ensure you request your medication as early as possible (i.e. a week in advance of running out) to avoid any problems.
Repeat Prescription requests and choice of Pharmacy
We have an excellent working relationship with 3 local Pharmacies. We strongly advise you use one of these pharmacies to collect your prescription items:
Osbon Pharmacy (Formerly Parris & Greening), Church Road, Hove.
Matlock Pharmacy, Matlock Road, Hove.
Asda Pharmacy, Brighton Marina.
Alternatively, we recommend the online pharmacy "Pharmacierge", who can deliver to any address in the UK, although requires 3-5 days to do so outside of the M25.
You are welcome to opt for an alternate Pharmacy, although this may result in a delay in collecting your medications.
The Hove Practice will not be held responsible for any problems/delays resulting from this decision.
N.B. Different pharmacies may charge different amounts for medications.
You can book your same day or advance appointment online, in person or over the phone; whichever suits you.
Our friendly Doctors are looking forward to welcoming you to The Hove Practice.
If you're not sure what you need, want to see the doctor urgently, or require a home visit in the Brighton area, call us on 01273 733830
We provide appointments for comprehensive same day and advance private primary care services with excellent General Practitioners at our Private Practice in Hove.
Emergencies, however, should be managed in the National Health Service by calling 999 or attending your local Accident & Emergency department.
For non-emergencies outside of our staffed hours please dial 111, visit https://111.nhs.uk or attend an NHS walk-in-centre. In Brighton, this is located near the station: Brighton Station Health Centre (practiceplusbrightonstation.nhs.uk)
Cancellation of all appointments incurs a £5 administrative charge. This will be waived if the deposit is left on account for future use.
Cancellation over 24 hours in advance of the appointment:
Full refunds are provided (minus the £5 cancellation fee or with the option to leave funds on account) if cancelled over 24 hours in advance of the booked appointment.
Cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment:
Cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment is charged 50% of the full consultation fee.
Cancellation within 2 hours of the appointment:
Cancellation within 2 hours of the booked appointment, or non-attendance, is charged the full consultation fee.
Telephone and email advice outside of a consultation:
Any Telephone or Email advice from the doctor is likely to be charged when a significant amount of advice, treatment and organisation is involved. This includes, but is not limited to, providing specialist recommendations and referrals.
You can order a COVID-19 RT-PCR above. Please note, our certification verifies your identity and your COVID 19 status. This may be different to a “fit to fly” certificate.
If your destination country also requires the latter, this requires an additional appointment with a doctor. You can book this separately online as a face-to-face appointment or call us on 01273 733830.
For a self-swab where you are concerned you may be suffering from COVID-19, please select “COVID 19 PCR Home Collect From Practice”. Please select any available slot for this test on the day you are making the booking (ignore the timing of the appointment as this is not relevant). Many of our patients also select this option for school or work purposes. The swab pack can be collected by an asymptomatic individual (who does not have to self-isolate according to government regulations) from the practice.
Please allow two hours for us to prepare the pack and form before attempting collection.
Collection is available during our standard opening hours (8.30am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday, 9.30-11am Saturday.) Alternatively we can arrange for the kit to be posted (first class) to an address of your choice in the United Kingdom. Please contact us to arrange this. By default we will post the kit to the address you have registered with. If you would like it to be sent to a different address please email reception@thehovepractice.co.uk or call 01273 733830 immediately after booking.
For all swab types, before we can arrange your swab, you must also complete a registration form, enabling permissions and consenting to our standard terms and conditions. Please also familiarise yourself with our self-swab instructions.
Please call or email us at any point throughout the process if you are having any difficulties.
Please note: The Hove Practice can not accept any responsibility for delays or expenses incurred as a result of receiving your result outside of the quoted timescales or the submission of an invalid/inconclusive sample or a positive swab result. We will endeavour to provide the result according to the estimated timescales but are unable to control for rare events that may affect the courier or laboratory which may affect our estimated timescales without warning. We advise you book your test to be taken as early as your circumstances allow. By booking a PCR test through the Hove Practice you acknowledge and accept that The Hove Practice can not be held responsible for the consequences of a delayed, invalid/inconclusive or positive result at this extremely challenging time. Once a swab has been performed, it is non-refundable.
All patients purchasing these tests must use their own judgment regarding the best date to purchase, perform and return the test to us/post it to the laboratory.
The Hove Practice can not advise on, and do not take any responsibility for, any test timings and their associated outcomes including (but not limited to) the effect on travel, business or personal plans. Please ensure you follow Government advice if you are concerned you may be symptomatic of COVID-19.
All COVID-19 PCR test results, regardless of whether they are positive or negative, are automatically reported to Public Health England by our laboratory partner. Like all other providers, we are legally obliged to report this result and registration information to the police if requested.
COVID-19 RT-PCR Cancellation Fee Policy:
We understand that your travel plans may change suddenly in these uncertain times. To reflect this, cancellation of a test will only incur a £25 administration fee for the whole affected party, whether 1 individual or more. We ask that you provide us with as much notice as possible as there are likely other patients and travellers in need of your appointment.
By booking with us, you are confirming that you understand and agree to our cancellation fee policy and the above policies.
