Comprehensive Sexual Health Testing
We are pleased to offer discrete, comprehensive and competitively priced sexual health testing to individuals with or without symptoms in Brighton and Hove, Sussex and across the United Kingdom.
Regular sexual health testing is recommended prior to starting any new sexual relationship or after any unprotected sexual contact. We provide specialist packages for men who have sex with men and, for individuals with a cervix, and are able to perform your cervical smear and sexual health testing at the same appointment.
If you know the test you require, test kits are available for delivery to the address of your choice, in discrete, plain packaging or for collection from the practice.
All results are emailed securely using medical grade communication as standard.
Should an infection be identified, you can book an appointment with our highly qualified medical team, who are available to assist with and prescribe treatment, referral to specialists and perform partner contact tracing either in person, via telephone or video consultation.
Alternatively, appointments are available with our experienced clinicians to discuss your precise requirements, examine you and provide advice, support and recommendations as to which tests are required.

Home Testing
We recognise that you may not have time to attend an appointment or prefer to test at home.
We are happy to offer telephone/video consultations to support this or, if you know the tests you require, you can order these directly and we will post them to the address of your choice for you to perform in the privacy of your own home.
Blood tests are performed by gentle finger prick testing; the same technique used by people with diabetes to monitor their blood sugar levels.
Full instructions are included with our tests but, if you have any difficulties, a virtual clinician appointment can be booked to support you.
Test packs can be collected from the practice or posted to the address of your choice.
Completed tests can either be dropped off at The Hove Practice before 17:00 hours (5pm) Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) or posted directly to our laboratory in the pre-paid envelope provided.
If required, postal tests incur an additional charge of £10 to the quoted prices, which is payable after booking.
When booking a postal pack please ensure that you book the correct test to meet your requirements.

What to expect at your appointment
We would be very happy to welcome you for an appointment with one of our experienced General Practitioners to advise upon the appropriate test(s) or review your results, and provide treatment or referral if necessary.
You will be warmly welcomed to our comfortable, private general practice.
We offer 15 or 30 minute appointments allow plenty of time to care and put you at ease. We will comprehensively explore your concerns, provide advice and explain the process.
An appointment at the practice with our specialist clinical team includes a detailed assessment of your medical and sexual health history, along with expert performance of testing; through a combination of venous blood sample, urine or swab of the affected area(s) in our caring practice environment. The 30 minute appointment allows for comprehensive examination and advice.
For individuals with a cervix, sexual health testing can be combined with your cervical smear. Please contact us for more details or discuss this with your clinician at the start of your appointment.

Appointments with clinicians (in-person, via telephone or video) are charged in addition to the test fee as follows:

Sexual Health Test Pricing (Home Testing)
7 Sexually Transmitted Infections: £170
This comprehensive test screens for 7 different sexually transmitted infections and is ideal for a general check up or if you have any discharge, burning or itching. Women take a gentle swab from inside the vagina and men collect the first part of the first urination after waking (in order to give the best chance of identifying any infection within the genitals).
It is accurate from as soon as 14 days after possible infection.
Results are usually provided within 3 days of testing.

An important and thorough screening test for these infections.
(Ideally performed 3 months after possible infection, but can be performed from 28 days): £190

Specialist Packages For Men who have Sex with Men
Men who have sex with men are more likely to need throat and rectal swabs for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea in addition to our standard tests. You do not have to identify as such in order to have these tests, but they may not be as necessary.
We offer the following options:
"Male Mini Screen"
(HIV I & II and the p24 antigen, Syphilis, Throat and Rectal Swabs and a Urine sample for Chlamydia trachomatis & N. Gonorrhoea)
This provides the most accurate and comprehensive HIV detection along with testing for some of the most common sexually transmitted infections.
You will collect the first part of the first urination after waking (in order to give the best chance of capturing any infection within the genitals).
(This can be performed from 28 days after possible infection): £270
Results are usually provided within 3 days of testing.
"Male Comprehensive Screen"
(HIV I & II and the p24 antigen, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, Throat and Rectal Swabs for Chlamydia trachomatis & N. Gonorrhoea along with a Urine sample for 7 Sexually Transmitted Infections (Chlamydia trachomatis, N. Gonorrhoea, Mycoplasma Genitalium, Ureaplasma, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Herpes Simplex Type 1 and 2))
This provides the most accurate and comprehensive HIV detection along with testing for the most common sexually transmitted infections.
You will collect the first part of the first urination after waking (in order to give the best chance of capturing any infection within the genitals).
(This can be performed from 28 days after possible infection): £480
Results are usually provided within 4 days of testing.
Rapid Result Options
For the following "Rapid" tests, results will usually be emailed by 11.30am the day after returning your test and there is NO ADDITIONAL consultation cost as the test is performed by you, in the privacy of your own home.
In order to help fit around busy lives, and to provide a rapid result, the following tests can be collected from The Hove Practice any time before 17.00 hours (5pm) the day before testing.
For women, please take a gentle self-swab from inside the vagina.
For men, please collect the first part of the first urination after waking (in order to give the best chance of capturing any infection within the genitals).
Samples can be taken at home, kept cool and returned to the practice before 17.00 hours (5pm) Monday - Friday, for a result by 11.30am the following day.
These tests should be taken from 14 days following possible infection for the most accurate results:
